CHARISM, CLASSES AND CHANCES

The College was back in full swing this week - everyone in classes with new and old friends - alongside the rush of the Ball, sporting fixtures and parent nights. One of the first things I do each year is to spend time talking with staff and students about our RNDM Charism - Contemplation, Communion and Mission.

Together with our values (Compassion, Courage and Respect), these six principles underpin our life at the College. They are who we are – and when we are fully living them, they guide our actions, behaviour, and how we spend our time.

As we begin our new year, with all the hopes, dreams and adventures we are imagining, Jesus’ words in this week’s Gospel echo a similar note: “If your virtue goes no deeper than that of the Scribes or Pharisees, then you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Jesus asks us to “walk the talk” and live out the values we proclaim.

Euphrasie Barbier, Founder of the RNDM Sisters, encouraged her sisters similarly: “Have courage, pray much, and continue to do your best in the important tasks God has imposed on you”.

2023 is a blank canvas for all of us. Let us ask God to help us fill it with love, hope and kindness for others. That’s a real adventure!
