COLLEGE UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS

The vast majority of students have commenced the 2023 school year wearing the College uniform correctly and appropriately. The College is making a concerted effort to set and maintain high standards of uniform from the very start of the school year to ensure clarity and consistency for students, parents/caregivers and staff. Parents/caregivers are requested to speak with their child about the College Uniform Expectations document below.

Students and parents are reminded about the key expectations listed below. In some situations, parents may have to make purchases to accommodate these expectations:

  1. A belt must be worn with shorts or trousers.
  2. Students are NOT permitted to wear t-shirts/clothing that is visible underneath their uniform.
  3. Very short haircuts (no 1) and shaving of the head are NOT permitted.
  4. Students with hair at or below the collar must have it neatly tied up or have it cut.
  5. Students are NOT permitted to have a moustache or beard.
  6. No more than one earring in each ear.
  7. Dress hem length must at the knee, NOT well above the knee.
  8. Sports shorts that are very tight and short are not permitted.
  9. Make up is NOT permitted.
  10. Artificially coloured hair is not permitted.
  11. Eye lash extensions are not permitted.
  12. False eye lashes are not permitted.
  13. False nails are not permitted.

The above list is not exhaustive but provides parents and students with those areas of most concern. Sanctions will be imposed for students who fail to meet the College Uniform Expectations.

PARENT/TEACHER COMMUNICATION

Parents/caregivers are reminded to refer to the Communication and Contact Flow Chart (below) so you are clear about who to contact should you have a matter to discuss.

  • Pastoral Concern: Parents are reminded to FIRSTLY contact the PCG teacher directly if you have pastoral concerns about your child. The relevant Assistant Deputy Principal (ADP) is the next person to contact should the issue require further attention.

  • Academic Concern: Any issues that parents wish to discuss that are subject related should be FIRSTLY addressed directly with the classroom subject teacher.  The relevant Head of Learning Area (HOLA) is the next person to contact should the issue require further attention.

Communication details of PCG teachers, ADPs and HOLAs are available on the College Website.

BEING POSITIVE IS SMART

Positive thinking is a crucial habit for not only academic success but personal success. A good attitude will outperform a bad attitude every time. We don’t ignore problems. We don’t focus on problems. We focus on solutions. Be solution-focused – with a good attitude – and you will have more of all of the things in life you want! Being positive is SMART! (Zig Ziglar)

COVID-19 REMINDER

Unfortunately, COVID-19 is still prevalent in our community and that means that some students, parents/caregivers and staff will inevitably contract COVID-19 during the course of 2023. The following advice relating to what to do if you have COVID-19 has been copied from the WA Government website.

  • Please stay home if you have COVID-19 until your symptoms have resolved to protect our community. This could take up to 10 days or more and a minimum of five days is a good guide.
  • You can recover from COVID-19 at home if your symptoms are mild.
  • Contact a GP or GP Respiratory Clinic if you start to feel worse.
  • You can also call Healthdirect on 1800 022 222. If your symptoms become severe, call 000 immediately.
  1. Manage your symptoms with rest and pain relief. Remember to check with your doctor if you are eligible for antiviral treatment.
  2. Stay at home until your symptoms resolve.
  3. Don’t forget to tell anyone you have had close contact with that you have COVID. You are most infectious two days before symptoms start.
  4. If you tested positive with a RAT, register your result with the Department of Health.
