Peanut Butter from the Jar??

So where am I up to with teaching?

and running my classes online?

I guess it's been pretty darn hectic

And crazy and awesome and fine!

The students are simply amazing

Completing their work on their own

It seems that they're building resilience

As they work on their tasks from their home.

The students have made this rewarding

For me and for others I know

Their humour, their vigor, their gumption

Determined to give school a go.

New skills that I've learnt have amazed me

And I haven't missed driving my car

I like to colour in pictures

And eat peanut butter straight from the jar!

A word from the IT department

So most of you will know me at school but for the parents of Healesville High School my name is Mark Heidenrijk and I work in IT at Healesville High School. I have seen many changes with computers in my close to 21 years here.

I never really thought that I would ever be in this position but I guess it's been like that for everyone. I tell you its been busy at times for sure (I remember in the first three days I made about 125 phone calls and probably about that many e-Mails too.) but it is calming down to probably 20 phone calls a day and about that many e-Mails.

I live over near Taylors Lakes and so it is generally at 1 hour and 15 minute drive from my place to work each morning so I am saving a fair bit of money not having to run my car everyday.  However the petrol is so cheap, who ever would of thought it would go so low? So I am loving the travel to work at the moment. (Kitchen to the Study) takes me about eight seconds I think.

I am being very careful with Covid-19 and just exercising in the back yard. (Really just walking quickly round and round in circles and when I get dizzy I just go the other way.) But that certainly does help to clear my head.

I love to help people with their problems in IT and I don't think I have found a problem that I haven't been able to fix remotely yet. So that is good. I would say this is because we have solid investment from the Principal is why our network runs so well and your children can access all the services that they need to in these uncertain times. Who knew at the start of the year we would be using WEBEX to teach.

I think everyone is learning so much and even with Covid-19 we are finding new ways of doing things. Funnily enough with Covid-19 we are opening up new possibilities to help your children get the most out of their education.

I do enjoy the challenge of working from home but I look forward to when everything can return to normal.

Stay safe everyone

Mark

A photo of my working-from-home desk (aka the kitchen table) today. The house seems smaller every day that we are staying home, and with three teenagers sharing the space it takes some special maneuvering to avoid joining other people’s Webex meetings!

I did get a treat for lunch though-okonomiyaki which my daughter made for Unit 3 Food Studies.

Looking forward to getting back to some kind of normal really soon.

My Favourite Day

Mr Morison's favourite day in his isolation week is most definitely Thursdays.

Why? He gets to dress up in his favourite costumes and venture outside to take the rubbish out.

That's what he says, anyway. It's probably more likely that he was wearing this costume all day.
