Principal's Notes

A Note from the Principal

Thank you to staff, students and parents for the amazing work being done as we move into week four of remote learning. I believe you are all doing a brilliant job under incredibly trying circumstances. Please enjoy this week’s edition of the Healesville High Connections- and please consider submitting something for an upcoming edition. I would love to hear about what might be happening from the perspective of one of our parents. We will publish what you send us in largely unedited form – although we might take out the swear words! To the parents- thank you for working with us and for understanding that every staff member is doing their best to support our students, to support you and to support each other.

As previously notified -in recognition of the significant pressure on students, the challenges facing parents and of the huge workload on staff, I would like to advise that on Friday, May 8 we will have no classes operating, to give everyone a brief rest and as a celebration of achievements thus far.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to commend the large number of students, parents and staff members who have been able to achieve a workable routine in these unusual times. The consistently clear message from those who have put routines in place is that the things they have done are not complex –they are simple things such as:

  • a regular time to rise in the morning,
  • regular meal and exercise times, (I’ve loved reading about the exercise routines of some of our students)
  • having a designated work station and
  • moving away from it at break times,
  • following your normal school timetable and
  • getting out in the fresh air when you can

Be kind to yourself and be understanding of others.

Thanks again for all the hard work, the understanding and the support being shown.

Stay safe.

Allan Rennick
