Mystery Skype - SU1

A few weeks ago SU1 had their first mystery skype, we had an absolute blast doing this. We ended up meeting a school from Auckland, New Zealand. We tried everywhere in New Zealand including the bay. They got so close to guessing where we were but unfortunately we had to cut it short :( We tried again on Thursday but didn’t succeed.) We thought it was so much fun! We really hope to do it again soon!

Mystery Skype - SU2

On Thursday SU2 got a Mystery Skype call from a school in Pune, India. The SU2 students had to ask questions about the school and try to find out where the school is located in the world using the students’ answers and ‘Google Maps’. While we were doing that, the school in Pune also tried to find out where ‘Woodend Primary School’ is located in the world by asking us questions.

Once we’d discovered where they were from, the students from India performed a song for us. We knew the song and joined in, which was awesome! Overall, the kids really enjoyed the experience and we now know more about the world. SU2 hopes to do it again soon!

Community Lunch

Six students helped out at the Community Lunch today hosted by the Woodend Neighbourhood House. They helped by serving the guests, clearing tables and conversing with the many wonderful Woodendians that attended the RU OK Day lunch. We’ll have more to share next week.

Mini Melbourne Minecraft

These last 2 weeks SU1 has been using the Mini Melbourne Minecraft world in work and activities. We did our Tuesday activity, The Amazing Race on Mini Melbourne while in Survival Mode. The students worked in teams to find clues and reach the finish line. We also did a scavenger hunt where we hid an item and left clues to help other people find. Part of the scavenger hunt was identifying Melbourne landmarks. The last activity we did was in creative mode. We flew around Melbourne and found the “area” of the buildings, then left a sign saying the answer.

Everyone had lots of fun and we all enjoyed using Mini Melbourne Minecraft.  By Matilda
