Spiritual Reflection

From Marianne Hale (1974)

St Madeleine Sophie (1779-1865) drew throughout her life on the hours she had spent with her brother in Paris, mastering the writings of the Fathers of the Church, the classics of western spirituality and above all, the scriptures. From these sources she developed her spiritual teachings and attained a breadth of view which enabled her to direct women of all types of personality with the sureness of touch and a freedom which allowed each person to grow in the way that was natural to her..... "Out of all her experiences came an original synthesis of insight drawn from many spiritual tradition".

Here are a couple of little insights:

"The simplicity of our life of contemplation makes us see the face of God in everything, everyone, everywhere and all the time".

"We trust one another by accepting each other as we are. Do not allow yourself to be disenchanted by any failure as long as you have done your best".

"Peace begins with a smile".

"The tree of life grows in Paradise. And its roots reach out everywhere. To the North, to the South, to the East and West. All its branches praise the living God".

"Joy is prayer, Joy is strength, Joy is love".
