SCHOOL COUNCIL REPORT - INSIDE IVANHOE

School Council was convened on May 6 and once again this year, the meeting was held virtually with all members logging in to the meeting from home.

During the meeting, we received an update on the Senior School build, which is still on track.  The slab has been poured, structural steel work and stud framing on the ground floor is underway and an upgraded power connection has been installed.

Finance papers for March were endorsed and the Treasurer tabled updated budget forecasts around what we believe will be the main economic impacts to the schools’ finance operations due to COVID-19.

Four strategic documents were tabled and noted, including the IPS Child Safe Code of Conduct, IPS Community Code of Conduct, Photographing, Filming and Recording Policy and Immunisation Exclusion Policy.

The meeting closed with discussion around what the return to school might look like (keep in mind, our meeting took place prior to the Premiers announcement on May 11). Questions were raised regarding whether remote learning could still be resourced once all grades were back and how quite practical elements of the school day (such as drop off and pick up) would be managed to assist social distancing.

It was noted that School Council wanted to pass on their thanks to teachers and staff in appreciation the fantastic job they are all doing in supporting our children’s learning.  In addition, we also recognise the incredible effort being made by all families who are homeschooling their children at the moment.

With the return to school being rolled out in coming weeks, please keep in mind that we have a duty of care is to keep the whole community safe and as such, our Principal and the Leadership team will be providing updates and keeping us informed as best they can.
