Principal News

Principal Christmas message

Each year, I reflect on the year that was, share gratitude for all that was accomplished and wish a festive season to us all.

I am extremely grateful for 'my' kids.  Not just my biological kids but my CSPS kids.  I unapologetically love ‘my kids’.

I have spoken to many of you as parents, carers and family members in the tone of ‘how is our boy going’, ‘what has our girl been up to lately’.

The word ‘our’ was intentional.

It is not a cliché that it truly does take a village to raise a child.

We hope that your 2021 Christmas is a double celebration of two years of COVID crazy.  We may have felt like we were dragging out feet across the finishing line, but like all determined people, we made it and we are stronger for the experience.

Merry Christmas.

Monique and Karen

Keep COVID safe

As we move into the festive season, from the words of a famous individual - ELF on the SHELF,

I wanted to check to see if you're well

Are you doing your part in this difficult spell

by waking your hands many times every day?

Try singing a song - it's a fabulous way

to count out the time that it takes to get clean!

so sing Jingle Bells because germs can't be seen

Back at the North Pole, our schedule's on track

and we're staying healthy so we can come back.

I would like to wish a HUGE thank you to the CSPS community for the hard work and effort put in during 2021.

A special thank you to our volunteers who have worked tirelessly to ensure the students were still able to participate in purchasing gifts for special days, small group sessions for reading and fun events such as the online disco and Obstacool.  We appreciate your efforts.

We will celebrate with you next year once restrictions have been lifted.

On Thursday 9th December CSPS celebrated 2021 in style at Settlers Run Golf Course with the graduating class of 2021.

The evening reinvigorated our classic Graduation experience where family members mingled and enjoyed the celebration.

A huge thank you to the staff and Graduation Committee for their perseverance throughout the year, dedication and commitment in providing an event that was special and memorable.

As a Principal, I could not have been prouder of how the students have risen and thrived throughout 2021.

Excursions & Incursions; following process & timeline

In relation to excursions/incursions, we are unable to accept late requests.  Of late, this is of a particular reference to the upcoming beach days for Year 3 – 6.

Numbers of students, staff, ratio, bus bookings and individual elements specific to the excursion/incursion are required within a timeline.

Families contacting the school to express their disappointment, sadness, frustration and sometimes anger with missing a timeline, is unnerving for both the parent and the staff member spoken to.

COMPASS is the CSPS communication tool that parents and carers are responsible to keep a track of.

Numerous posts, including access to the school events calendar, are repeatedly posted over a period of time.

Moving into 2022, it is essential that we all understand that processes and timeline are met.

Mental health support for students over the school holidays

As we come to the end of another challenging year navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, students may need additional mental health support over the school holidays.

The department has developed factsheets schools can share with students and parents and carers, outlining mental health and wellbeing support available to them over the holiday period.

The following factsheets will help school students and families to access support if needed, over the school holidays:

The factsheets support positive mental health and wellbeing by helping students to identify signs that they may need mental health support, and then access the right support for them.
