Book Week Celebrations

Carla's fabulous Harry Potter cake

Sharing a love of books and reading

As we were in lockdown on book week, the year seven captains and house captains decided to put together a virtual year seven and eight book week celebration. We posted a padlet out to the year levels with activities such as dressing up as your favorite character, or writing a book blurb. these activities were completed in the class Tutorial lessons. Every entry was fantastic and earned a point for their house. The winning house was Merri, followed by Sumner, Plenty and Cooper. Thank you to everyone who participated. The Year seven captains hope to organize more events soon in term 4. Until then, we hope everyone has a great holiday!

When Amy Gumm and her terrible, ugly life is swept up by a tonado, and dropped into Oz, she has to accept that she may never get home. She knows the stories, the movies. How it ends. But the shocking reality of Oz throws her and her life off course. A place where good is wicked, and wicked may just be good. A place where even the yellow brick road is breaking. Amy Gumm is the other girl from Kansas. She has been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked, and with  her friends in tow, she must complete four missions. Take the woodman's heart. Remove the scarecrow's brain. Destroy the lion's courage. And then Dorothy must die. But when things get ugly, how can she keep everything and everyone she knows and loves safe?

Somewhere in the not so distant future, society has divided into 5 factions, Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the kind and peaceful), Eurodite (the smart), and Candor (the truthful) . 16 year old Beatrice is in Abnegation, but she has never felt like she  belongs there, and doesn’t believe she is selfless enough to truly belong to faction she has grown up in. So, when the aptitude test comes to decide which faction she will fit in most, she is prepared to be sorted into a different faction. But she isn't ready for what it really tells her.

Now Beatrice has a secret.

With the decision day looming over her, she has to make a choice; should she leave her family behind for another faction? Or should she stay with the ones she loves most? And most of all, how can she keep her secret safe?
