Community Survey : Remote Learning

Thank you to everyone who responded to our recent Remote Learning survey. Your feedback told us that for the majority of both students and parents we have the levels of work and live components “just right”. Students are feeling supported, are connecting with their peers and exercising.

Responses to the open-ended questions asking parents and students about what we can do to help has shown some very clear themes emerging. Staff are meeting this week to consider how we can further adapt the remote learning experience based on this feedback.

We have heard that:

  • Check-ins are appreciated with 1-1 opportunity for feedback during class appreciated.
  • Informing parents if students are disengaging enables them to offer support
  • Lesson Plan/Clear Instructions are important for students to work remotely
  • Scheduling catch-up lessons is important for students to manage the workload with the opportunity to connect with the teacher if they have any questions
  • Teams Calls are an effective way of running lessons. Students are finding breakout rooms a great way to work with their classmates.
  • Keeping the start of the lesson instructions to only 10 minutes and then staying in Teams if there are any questions asked.
  • Slower Pace of work is appreciated and showing compassion with workload/deadlines
  • Providing or incorporating engaging resources as well as giving time to complete work off-screen

To continue to support our move to Teams and Onenote, we've put together a video that shows how teachers and students are using this platform for their learning. You can watch it  here
