Farewell to our Year 12s

It was a bittersweet week at the Cranbourne campus. On Wednesday morning our Year 12 students, a group who has shown a level of resilience that has surprised many and inspired all, travelled home to finish their last few days of study, off campus. Words cannot reflect the emotion of teachers who were having to say 'farewell' to a group of students who have had interruptions to their final year of schooling that no one could ever have imagined but who walked out with heads held high and a demeanour that suggested this is 'not going to keep me down'. It was resolute, it was pleasingly defiant and it is a testament to this group of strong young people. Heaven help any obstacles that stand in their way moving forward because this is a group of students who have learned how to confront complexity head on and not let it defeat them. Ably led by two of the finest College Captains we have seen in Milly and Callum and a strong Student Leadership Executive.

We now look forward to the opportunity to welcome our graduates back on November 19 for their final Graduation Assembly - a celebration that they can have together, that will be zoomed into households for parents - guardians to watch via a special link and for the rest of the community to experience on campus.

And then we had, at the other end of the scale, the joy and energy of welcoming students back to the campus. Teacher's were conducting classes out in the beautiful sun, students were laughing and reconnecting with each other and with their teachers. There is little doubt that we are all very tired at the moment and that is to be expected as we start reacquainting ourselves to the campus routine. The message of this reintroduction has been to make sure you practice self compassion - continuing to look after each other but also to be gentle on ourselves.

Let's hope from now we get a clear run to the end of the year.
