WELLBEING UPDATE

Welcome back to Term 4 everyone, it's exciting to begin to countdown the days each of our levels will be returning. We will be focussing on this as a positive forward thinking routine. A great wellbeing strategy to get into the habit of thinking positively. Yes, there is a chance of things changing but instead of focussing on the chance of things not working out, our childrens mental health (over time) is far better off focussing on the positive outcomes, and of things change we deal with it and refocus the positive thinking.

Returning to School:

Similar to last year we will be focussing on a number of extra things to best support the social and emotional areas of our students please see below a number of additions for return to school.

  • Daily Wellbeing lessons, these will have a range of focusses from opportunities for socially interacting in dedicated 'get-to-gether' sessions, resilience project lessons, fun/playtime, class games and picture story books around self esteem, self reliance and other social and emotional challenges and solutions.
  • Student voice focus, led by the SRC our students will be asked how we can maximise fun, play and socialising for the last term to get the most out of 2021.
  • Increased yard supervision, we will continue to provide increased supervision for the yard upon returning in particular the oval.
  • Wellbeing checkins will continue as they have been over remote learning to help promote help seeking for our students. These will be recommended to be filled out daily by each student for at least the first week upon returning.

School Hats

A friendly reminder for school hats to be worn when studets return to school. This is even more significant as our kids have had a lack of exposure to the sun over isolation our skin will be more vulnerable than normal.

eSmart (Digital Wellbeing) :

Digital Norms Committee will recommence soon, this work has been put on pause whilst we naviagte a changed landscape with technology at home via isolation. As we return to normal this work will continue to explore technology community norms, based on a combination of student, staff, parent and research data.

Below is an expert guide to many apps that you can look at to learn more about them and their age limits/recommendations.

Please also find some information regarding school recommendations for apps/games below for all of our students who are under the age of 13:
