Women Pennant F - Alex Kay and Palma Casonato

New season, new look Pennant F! The season kicked off strong for Pen F, with the opening 3 matches notching up big goal scoring wins and only conceding one goal. Fan favourite, Karen Bussell made a few special appearances before making the move to WA. A few reshuffles within the team and the other teams in the comp presented Pen F with some serious competition and challenges. Lockdowns were used as a chance to re-set and come back stronger than ever, beating Camberwell 1-0 on their home ground with a last-minute touch by newcomer Lucy Bradbury. The goal scoring was shared around the forward line-up however, shoutout to Charlotte Gray who served up several cracking goals across the season.

A momentous occasion was shared during this season with Palma’s 400th game! True to form, Palma’s goal saving efforts ensured the team came away with a win against a very competitive Casey side. After match celebrations shared with the team made for a very merry and happy afternoon.

More lockdown interruptions and tragedy struck the team not once but twice, in the form of Mackenzie “Macka” Barham and Megan Anquetil both having epic falls and tearing their ACLs (plus other stuff!). Wishing you both all the very best for recovery and rehab and hope to see you both back next year! Finishing the season on a 4 match winning streak and overall 7 wins, Pennant F finished 3rd on the ladder, other teams better watch out for 2022!

On behalf of Pen F, we want to thank Sam Hill for stepping up to coach the team! We appreciate your support and vision whilst still juggling playing every weekend (sometimes two games). And thank you to those who stepped up to support as coaches when those games conflicted. A huge thank you to our sideline support crew looking after the newest generation of TEM players (especially when certain husbands were at the Olympics)! And of course, thank you to Penny Senior and Claire Douglas without who we wouldn’t have had such a successful women’s division and training sessions in challenging times.

Women Metro - Cam MacPhie

What a year the girls had. If shots on goal counted as real goals (including the swishy swishy ones), we probably would have finished on top by a mile. We had a good mixture of “youth” and “used to be youth” this year, plus quite a few fill-ins. Some of the teams we played against were other clubs 3rds and 4ths, and they held their own. Big thanks to all the fill-ins that helped us this year (including the coaches). Big thanks to Penny and Jen for finding the fill-ins on a weekly basis. And finally a massive thanks to the metro team. Hope you guys had as much fun as I did.
