Co-curricular - Junior Sport

Junior Sport Update

I can’t tell you how great it has been having all the students back at the College. There is finally life back on campus and the usual hustle and bustle of college life has returned. Congratulations to all families for getting through such a long period of remote learning - well done!

Unfortunately, the flow-on effects of COVID-19 restrictions are still being felt. Due to the extended period of lockdown, our current restriction on mixing cohorts and the timelines required to produce the 2021 Lumen, Junior School Co-curricular photos will not be taken this year. As a result, team lists will acknowledge the boys’ efforts in this year’s Lumen edition. Whilst this will no doubt disappoint the boys and their families; the reality is that the College is left with no feasible option.

‘Best and Fairest’ and ‘Team’ Awards will be presented to respective members of all Summer and Winter Sport Teams later this term. Furthermore, all boys will receive a certificate acknowledging their participation in the 2021 Co-curricular Program.

With the above-mentioned cancellation of Co-curricular photos, it is time for all Basketball and AFL players to please return their singlets/guernseys to me. Any boy that still has the SPC goalkeeper’s shirt will also need to return it. All garments need to be washed prior to their return and preferably returned in a plastic/paper bag. Any lost items will incur the coast of replacing them.

With the exciting news announced by the Premier on Monday about a return to school sport, we wait for some clarification on what is possible. I will inform the Junior School community on how we will move forward with this exciting news as soon as we have a clear understanding of what is permitted. I look forward to an active end of the year.
