SRC Activities

House Trivia

In week 3 this term the SRC ran the very first non-sport house event, trivia week. Every lunchtime from 30th July to 3rd August students came to the library in teams and answered questions that fell under a range of themes. Monday was Entertainment, Tuesday was Music and Arts, Wednesday was Sport, Thursday was Humanities and Friday was General Knowledge. The event was well participated as both students and teachers competed to win the ultimate prize... a MASSIVE box of Favourites and of course, house points!

Points were awarded for every correct answer and a prize (chocolate) was given to the winning team at the end of each day. The successful House winner was Blue on 5114 points, Green was second on 4989 points, Red was third with 4864 points and Gold came last with 2454 points. And the winning team for the week was: The Green Sexy Turtles!

Thank you to everyone who participated and we are looking forward to seeing you at our House baking competition, the first ever GEC Bake Off, in September!

The Model United Nations

The Model UN is a youth conference that replicates the formal structure of the United Nations Assembly. It gives students in Year 10 and 11 from different schools the opportunity to come together and experience the processes of UN law making. This year the event was held at Methodist Ladies College in Kew on Friday 3rd August.

The following members of the SRC: Adelin Zipman, Antoine Hobbs, Shruthi Sasi and Dips Thacker, were given the job of representing Syria in a discussion about the refugee crisis.

We had to present our country position statement on a draft resolution and then debate proposed amendments in a formal and informal caucus.

It was an amazing chance to build a range of skills from public speaking, debating, analysis and problem solving.
