Fright Night Trivia

The Trivia Night was so much fun. Thanks to all the parents who organised the night, made donations and dressed up to create a fun “Fright Night” mood and to Mr Lou for being an entertaining quiz-master. It was pleasing to see the table with one of Glen Eira College’s science teachers got all the science questions right and was the winning table! Funds raised of over $7000.00 will be used for an outdoor stage, bike parking and other improvements to the school.

Safer riding and walking to Glen Eira College

It’s great to see the new speed limits supported by Glen Eira Council and VicRoads to make it safer to walk near GEC. Glen Eira Council recently prepared a new transport plan. One aim is to improve the safety and attractiveness of key routes to schools to encourage more kids to walk, scoot or ride to school. The plan proposes to complete the rail trails from Caulfield Station along the Frankston and Dandenong Rail-lines, which would help some GEC students. However, the Council proposes to downgrade Glen Eira, Booran and Neerim Roads from Melbourne’s Principal Bicycle Plan to give priority to more and faster driving with Punt Road given as a model to copy here. This would make it much less safe to walk or ride to Glen Eira College and the many other schools along these streets and Monash Uni. Please email the Council or talk to a Councillor to tell them that you would like the rail trails completed and safer bike lanes along Glen Eira, Booran and Neerim Roads mail@gleneira.vic.gov.au for further info contact GEC parent Catherine Mc Naughton 0412 119 807
