Kids Teaching Kids Conference
Kingswood Primary School was given funding by the City of Kingston council to attend the 2018 Kids Teaching Kids Sustainability Conference in Melbourne over two days.
The theme of the conference was water. The students were involved in a range of hands on activities about saving water and protecting our local waterways. They met animals who depend on water to survive, participated in water quality testing and bug monitoring, learned about weather patterns and rainfall, saw a model of a sustainable house and lots more!
What's on in Green Team?

Nurdle November
Microplastic May felt just like yesterday but get ready to welcome... Nurdle November! Same rules as last time. Whoever collects the most nurdles from our local beaches in the month of November will take out the title of Nurdle champion and win an awesome prize to match! The weather has been putting on a show for us and we know many of you will be getting out and about in the sunshine.
Please join the fight to keep our marine life safe and waterways clean. Not sure what I'm talking about? Read more about nurdles here:

Congratulations to Miss Baxter who is the winner of The Bee Healthy Stories book giveaway, ‘The Nurdle Invasion.’ Miss Baxter will use the book to coincide with the Nurdle November initiative at school.
Happy nurdle hunting! P.s. feel free to send through any photos of you on the hunt to put in the next newsletter! My email is

Nude Food
Remember that in Term 4, every day is Nude Food Day! So far this term we have recorded a huge 394 lunch boxes without wrappers over just 3 Tuesdays! We haven't had a Wild Card Surprise Day yet so remember to keep those lunches coming without packaging. Follow this link for some great, easy & delicious lunchbox ideas for kids:

Vertical Garden
We have an update from the Vertical Garden Grant we received earlier in the year! We have been busy researching the best vertical gardens to suit our school and we have found a winner. Unfortunately the grant does not cover labour costs so we need your help! If you are a handyman/woman and think you would be able to whip these up for the school next January/February please let us know. We would provide all of the materials required, you would just need to have (or be able to source) the tools and have the energy/drive to create them. Below is a complete step by step guide to creating them with a list of the tools you would need too.
We would be so grateful if you could assist in making these dreams a reality! Please email Miss Baxter or Miss Hawkins if you think you might be able to assist with creating one. We will need 13 in total but hopefully with our whole school community we can get heaps of volunteers.
