We are well into the swing of Term 4 now with lots happening at Kingswood. The weather has turned and it has been great to see a number of classes learning outside and making use of our brilliant facilities. Outdoor learning improves children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature. On Thursday, our students participated in ‘Outdoor Classroom Day’ and joined over 2 million students worldwide in celebrating outdoor learning.

World Teacher's Day

On Monday, 5th November Kingswood will be celebrating World Teacher's Day. Our teachers are extremely dedicated, hardworking and passionate about everything they do. If your child would like to show their appreciation in the form of a card/drawing/letter I’m sure our teachers would be thrilled!

Staff Professional Development

The staff at Kingswood have been busy participating in their own learning over the last two weeks. A large number of classroom and specialist teachers attended Literacy professional development with Misty Adoniou last week and we will be welcoming Misty to our school for a whole day of learning at the start of 2019.

Staff also completed online modules run by the University of Canberra on Disability Standards last week which everyone found informative.

This week we also welcomed three education representatives from Canberra who visited our school to observe our Professional Learning Communities as we are seen as a lead school in this area, once again highlighting that we are leaders in education.

iCreate Westall Secondary

On Wednesday, students from Westall Secondary College came to Kingswood to teach our Year 5 and 6 students. Students learned about entrepreneurship and investigated the link with 21st century learning skills. The session finished with students developing their own business idea and then pitching this to their peers.

Diwali

A reminder that we will be celebrating Diwali in the week beginning 12th November. Please stay tuned for more information about this from the Special Celebrations Working Party
