Leader of Student Wellbeing

Welcome to the new school year and to new families to the College. The Pastoral Care Team look forward to working with our families in providing pastoral and well being support throughout the year.

Uniforms - All Students

A PDF file is attached listing the relevant uniform requirements and a link to our website. Please follow the requirements of uniform, including grooming. Students in Year 7-10 are to wear sports uniform when they have a double period of PDHPE (this information is listed in on the "Sport" page of this newsletter). If a student is not in the correct uniform, a note signed by parents/guardians on the day of the infringement is required. This needs to be shown and co-signed by the mentor group teacher in the morning roll call, or alternatively an email can be sent to: mccadmin@arm.catholic.edu.au.

If a family requires assistance in accessing the summer uniform please do not hesitate to contact me at the College.

Vaccinations - Year 7

Students were given last week the information package which included parental/guardian consent. If you wish to have your child vaccinated at school by Tamworth Community Health please return completed forms to the College office by Wednesday 19 February. The first round of vaccinations will be held in the Rosary Centre on Thursday 20 February. Year 7 students are requested to wear their sports uniform on the day.

Peer Support

Year 7

This term we will begin the Peer Mediation program with students. The Peer Support Program provides a fun and engaging environment for young people to address social issues. Modules are designed to equip them with skills to deal proactively with life experiences. The Peer Support Program promotes wellbeing, which encourages positive relationships, connectedness and a sense of responsibility. The sessions will be conducted in small groups with two peer leaders from Year 10.

Year 10

Students who have been invited to undertake Peer Support Leaders Training for next Thursday 13 February are reminded to hand their permission notes into the office ASAP. In order to facilitate the program, a cap of 40 students will be trained.

The most important part of being a Peer Leader is to help the year 7 students in your group feel welcome, safe and to feel they belong. You also need to: attend briefing and debriefing sessions be prepared for each session, work collaboratively with your co leader, ask for support from the Supervising Teacher, and  support each other through discussion, sharing ideas and encouragement. Being a peer leader for Year 7 students requires a big commitment and preparedness to step up to student leadership within the College.
