Principal's Report

Swimming Program

It is very exciting that next week with our Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students off each day for their swimming program. This is another great sign that life in schools is returning to normal and I know that the students will have a wonderful time. I would like to give a huge thank you to the Foundation and 1/2 teams as there is a lot of preparation that is required for our swimming program each year.

Car Park Safety

Again I have witnessed families walking through the school car park. We work with students to understand the risks of doing this and why we have students walk around the car park to meet their parents. Please support your child in walking around the car park at all times. It is also imperative for student safety that all families park on the street when dropping off and collecting their children.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

At the end of Terms 1 and 3 we hold our Parent-Teacher interviews. These form part of our reporting to parents on student achievement and wellbeing. Families should have received a notification from Compass last night that bookings are now open. Families of 3/4B should note that your interviews are a week earlier than the rest of the school due to the availability of both Mrs Bondini and Mrs Mackney.

School Dog

This weekend my family an I are picking up a new addition to our family. After losing our cat of 17 years we decided that we needed a new pet for our household and have been talking about a dog for some time. For families who remember Dusty, our previous school dog, having a dog at school brings so many benefits with it for student and staff wellbeing. I am hoping that our new dog will be able to come to school and assist in supporting the well-being of students and staff. This will be something that will require approval through School Council as we will need to adapt and approve our existing policy on a School Dog. I hope to bring him into school over the coming weeks so that we can see what he is like in this environment, it has to work for him just as much as for the students.

We are still deciding on a name for our dog, hopefully, we get that sorted by the weekend, but he is a 6-month-old Kelpie who has some training already, which we will continue as a family.
