Finishing school in 2013, I started working in the family business of asphalt and civil, which is where I work today. I share many fond memories at MSCW. Some of the best would have to be in my last year doing VCAL; building bits and pieces outdoors with great friends and heading out to great places for adventures. VCAL was a great program for me as I'm more of a hands on thinker/worker. The program allowed me to use multiple hand tools and spend each Friday onsite in the work force learning about sub-divisions (house estates), which is now what I look after in the family business.

In 2013 I was fortunate enough to get VCAL Student of the Year. During my apprenticeship I won 1st and 3rd year apprentice of the year in Certificate III Civil Construction and recently just won Certificate IV in Supervision under the Civil Contractors training program.

The advice I have for kids in school today is it doesn't matter if you aren't the smartest in the school, it's all about how you apply what you learn to situations outside of school. So capture and work on your skills while you have the time, because before long, you're in the work force and it doesn't stop!

As for the future, I'm more of a take each day as it comes kind of person. I focus on building something off each day to help myself grow. Let's just say I'll be around asphalt and earthworks forever, I love it!
