Small Group Programs to Begin

One of the key pillars of the Woodmans Hill wellbeing structures and interventions for the 2022 school year are small group intervention programs which aims to support small groups of students with identified wellbeing needs across the school.

Our Junior School, Senior School and Wellbeing teams work with our internal Compass data to identify students who could benefit from extra supports. In Term 1, our focus is on

engaging students in Years 7-9 who have been significantly impacted by the pandemic over the last two years. These students have missed key cultural and support events such as transition events which support them to connect with and adjust to the secondary school environment. We have recognized that the continually interrupted terms have impacted on their ability to connect to the school and indeed to their peers.  This month we will be beginning our small group intervention programs for Term 1.

We will have a Girls Program, a Boys Program, and Art Connections program and a Pride group. We look forward to sharing some of their experiences over the

coming weeks as these programs get underway.

Building Community Connections

Last weekend saw the development of our partnership with the Rotary Club of Ballarat West. We have long been supported by the kind men and women of the Rotary group through the provision of the Alan Sewell Scholarship for Year 11 students.

In 2022, we have been keen to develop our relationship and for the first time we are supporting key Rotary fundraising events through the provision of student volunteers. Last weekend, we saw several students volunteer at the Ballarat Swap meet and this week we will see students supporting the smooth running of Soccer events at Mars Stadium.

Our School Captain for Engagement, Abbie Bride, has led the development and organisation of this program. At present students in Years 10-12 can volunteer for these events. If you are interested, please see Abbie and put your name forward.
