We were greeted by some friendly and enthusiastic leaders who were keen to get us settled into our cabins so we could begin playing the fun, creative and wacky games they had ready for us! By the afternoon we had worked up a sweat and were really grateful to be able to hit the beach for a free swim in the afternoon. We splashed each other, played catch with a tennis ball and even did some handstands in the refreshing waters of Safety Beach.

The Lip Sync battle gave everyone an opportunity to show their inner pop star. There was time for a little practice on Monday after our beach swim. Mrs Mason, Mr Scott and Miss Paula kicked off the night with a great performance….but maybe they should stick with teaching!

‘’I enjoyed watching the performances at the lip sync battle - who knew Sol and Wally could moonwalk!?’ Blake Yr 6

Anthony deserved the trophy as the Best Solo Performer for his rendition of Senorita by Shawn Mendes. It was very entertaining!- Yr 5M & S

Tuesday was a full day of activities. We had a team back at camp in the morning, playing games, trivia and some mindful colouring. There was some loud singing - Miss Paula now has homework - to watch Encanto! The beach crew saw Melbourne’s ‘four seasons in one day’ but had a great time paddle boarding and participating in a ‘beach carnival’. There was a Dragon Paddleboard that could fit five people on it. It was a skill to stay upright with this many people. The Spirit of Tasmania going past, created some waves at an otherwise still beach, almost turning the paddle board lesson into a surfing lesson! Everyone mastered the art of standing up on the board to paddle and even managed to haul themselves back onto the board if they fell off. A great display of persistence by all students!

‘We saw a stingray at the beach, cruising past. It was huge!’ Sol Yr 6

“I was so determined to not fall off when paddle boarding.’ - Wally Yr 6

‘At the beach we had a competition to see who could make the best tunnel to get the ball into the water. We all joined in.” Kaylen Yr 6

‘We played a game where we dug holes in the sand and hid in them so the Pirates of Shark Bay couldn't find us!’ Miss Paula

The camp had many great open spaces where we could sit outside so after a delicious dinner we settled on the undercover deck to watch the movie Cool Runnings. The winners of the cabin inspections were rewarded with a Gold Class experience and allowed to sit on a chair to watch the movie. The movie was very topical,, as it is based on a true story about a team from Jamaica entering the Olympic Games and competing for gold in the four man bobsled. This was a new movie for many, and it was great to hear everyone cheering when the team did well. It was very uplifting!

‘Our movie - Cool Runnings was really funny!’ Molly Yr 6

“The movie was inspirational, the team showed resilience to keep going. We were interested that it was based on a true story.’ Ivy and Cherry Yr 6

Our final morning at Camp Bosco saw us start the day with a beautiful Ash Wednesday Liturgy…

‘The Ash Wednesday Liturgy in the morning was very peaceful in a beautiful setting.’ Daniel Yr 6

After breakfast and a final pack up, and one last game of Gaga, we said farewell to Mica and Paul and the Don Bosco Campand headed home, via the Enchanted Adventure Park. The view of the bay from the window as the bus wound its way up Arthur’s Seat, towards the Enchanted Adventure park, was breath taking! For the next few hours we explored the many mazes and slid down the Tube Slide until we were called for lunch and boarded the buses for our trip home.
