Junior School Report
Junior School Report
As we enter into the final week of Term 1, the Junior School team would like to congratulate students for a fantastic start to the school year. It has been great to see students immerse themselves into many extra-curricular activities, and actively engage in the learning opportunities at Scoresby Secondary College.
Junior School Focus Groups
With Scoresby Secondary College currently preparing for a school review, it was a great opportunity for the Junior School team to sit down with some students in Years 8, 9 and 10 to discuss their thoughts on how the College is travelling and what we can do to continue to provide an excellent educational experience.
We took the opportunity to seek their feedback on the results from the 2021 Attitudes to School Survey (ATSS) which focused on a variety of areas including learning, wellbeing and student voice and agency.
The Junior School team would like to thank those students who participated in the focus groups for their honest and constructive feedback. We look forward to continuing this in the future, and putting into action many of the great suggestions.
Elevate Education
On Thursday 17 March, a company called Elevate Education came and gave presentations to students in Years 7 - 9. The presentations were focused on important skills that will help us achieve success in our studies. These skills included: learning how to study effectively and time management skills. We learnt how important it is to prioritise tasks that are due soon and how to manage homework, studying and revision while still having enough time to do hobbies, sports and spend time with friends and family. This was such a beneficial incursion that is going to really help a lot of students as they move up through secondary school.

Term 2 Reminders
A reminder that in Term 2 students will be required to be in full winter uniform. We kindly ask for families to check this uniform before the commencement of the term to ensure that it aligns with our uniform policy (knee length skirt, plain grey socks, black lace up leather shoes).
The holiday break is also a great opportunity for students to complete an inventory of their school materials (pens, paper, exercise books), and ensure to top up their supplies ready for Term 2.
The Junior School team would like to wish our students, parents / families and College community a safe and restful Easter break. We look forward to seeing our students return for an exciting and productive Term 2.

Victorian High Achievers' Program
Victorian High Achievers’ Program (VHAP)
The Victorian government have recently invested $60.2 million in the new Student Excellence Program. As part of this investment, the Victorian High Achievers’ Program (VHAP) will see Year 5-8 students benefit from an intensive online 10-week course in English and Maths.
This year, in the program’s first intake for 2022, five of the Year 7 students have been selected to participate in the Maths and English programs. These students have been identified by the Department of Education and Training as working significantly ahead of their peers.
We are very proud of these five students, not just for their work in the upcoming VHAP program but also their diligence and approach to their studies.
