During the first week of term two we will be welcoming to our school, Robert Newton, author of the Year 8 novel “Runner”.

Robert has been coming to the school for quite a number of years now and it is always a valuable experience. He is a very down to earth, engaging speaker who is particularly interested in inspiring students to try writing for themselves. He will talk about his own schooling and how he came to (eventually) enjoy writing. He will also talk about his historical research and how it moulded his novel.

I hope that the Year 8 students enjoy listening to Robert. It is wonderful to have the actual author of the novel students are studying come to the school in person.
