Chicken Care over the holidays

Would you like to help us take care of our wonderful chickens over the holidays? Once again we invite families, if you have an hour to spare on one day these holidays, to please go to www.schoolinterviews.com.au and use the event code : wunvm and select one of the dates of these holidays. Once you have done so, you will be sent an email with instructions for what to do. You can come to the school at ANY time on that date of choice and it won't take longer than an hour. We look forward to hearing from you.

Kitchen Garden

Well the Kitchen Garden wrapped up today with the delightful year 2 students. Using the dried lavender and rosemary that had been hung in the outdoor kitchen for the past 3 weeks, sachets were made and sent home. The students thought of many uses for the sachets such as hanging in the car, putting in the sock drawer or hanging up in their room. In the kitchen with a focus on the country India, the students made curry puffs using potato, peas and curry powder. The students really enjoyed these. We also harvested snow peas from the garden, washing and eating them, discovering how fresh and tasty food is straight from the garden. A quick hello and goodbye to the chooks on a delightfully sunny albeit cool day, we consider ourselves blessed to have this opportunity to learn and experiment in the kitchen garden space. Thank you to our parent helper Carolyn and to the lovely Mrs Cedro and Mrs Cristiano. Thank you to the students who made and presented us with thank you cards and speeches to express their gratitude. Year 4 Stewardship

The year 4 students had a visit from a speaker from the Arthur Rylah Institute learning all about eels in our local waterways. Please be on the lookout for more words from the students about their experience in this newsletter.
