Captains Report

Hello there MWPS! We hope everyone is doing just fine! Noah is absent today, so my friends Elizabeth and Faraja are assisting with the newsletter this week.

School holidays are just around the corner, so we hope you continue to enjoy the last days of Term 3. On Tuesday some of our Grade 5/6 students participated in Interschool Basketball at Cobblebank Stadium. We had both a girls’ team and a boys’ team. On the day we were supported by Mr. Cliffe and Miss Naidu.

Thursday was ‘R U OK? Day’. Staff and students were invited to wear yellow, and it was wonderful to see so many supporting this day. Sometimes these 3 words are enough to help someone feel better. The money we raised will be donated to the R U OK? Organisation.

Last Wednesday, our Grade 5/6 students went on an excursion called ‘Colonial Walking Tour’ through the streets of Melbourne. It was thoroughly enjoyed by most.

We would also like to encourage our students to wear their hats every day. We have received updated information from the Cancer Council regarding the UV. It is now recommended that hats are worn when the UV Index is 3 or higher. One of our students notifies the whole staff of the daily index each morning over the P.A system. If students do not have a hat, they must stay under the pergola or the other designated shaded areas. These are still cool places to hang out and just chill with your friends.

As student leaders we have still been noticing that some of our students are not playing on the correct playgrounds. We have separate playgrounds for safety reasons. We hope everyone understands and realises that by not playing on the correct playground someone could get seriously hurt. Playing on the correct playground could lead to getting a raffle ticket and with that raffle ticket you could win your class Lizzy the school lizard!

Wow, that was a lot of information.

Until next time,

Angela, Elizabeth and Faraja
