The Arts News

Mark it on your calendar! Our annual MCC Arts Festival will be held next Friday, September 9 between 3.30pm and 7.00pm.  There will be Music, Dance and Drama performances across several stages, an Art Trail featuring work by students from Kinder up to Year 10, food and drink options, multimedia presentations, 'street performances’, samba drum processions, perhaps even a staff band performance, all occurring at various locations on the College grounds.

All students will have the chance to participate, either as performer, artist, designer, or at the very least, audience member supporting their peers! MCC Arts Festival is a chance to celebrate the artistic endeavours of all students, not just those who excel in a particular area.  With this in mind, all parents and friends are warmly invited to come and support the students.

A draft performance schedule for Music, Dance and Drama items is available by clicking on the link below, which should help in planning your afternoon. Updates will be published on the Mount Carmel Facebook page. All efforts will be made to schedule individual students around any pre-existing outside of school commitments that evening. If your child is unable to attend, please ensure that all relevant teachers who may have scheduled them in a performance are aware as soon as possible so that appropriate alternative arrangements can be made.

For our Early Years students (Kinder Prep, Year 1 and Year 2):

These students will be supervised after school until their item begins.

For our Primary students (Years 3 – 6):

Please assemble in your classroom 20 minutes before your class item is due to begin.  Staff will have organised with students’ what time they will be required back in rooms.

Please pack extra food so that children may enjoy an afternoon snack.  The students will be dismissed after the conclusion of their performance, and school bags may be collected from their classrooms.  They are however encouraged to look at the art work on display, watch some other performances and take in the sights and sounds of the afternoon/evening.  Extra teachers will be on duty from 3.05pm – 3.30pm as we are aware that more students than usual will be staying in the playground after school.

For our Secondary Students:

For those students who are performing, they will need to ensure they are neatly presented in their full College winter uniform for musical items, and in appropriate performance costumes for drama and dance items.

We look forward to seeing you there!
