Hockey
This term, Mount Carmel has teams participating in Hockey Tasmania’s School Super Sixes primary competition and the Secondary Division 3 (Year 7/8) competitions. The Super Sixes includes keen students continuing on from Term 2 grass hockey, ready to challenge themselves on the turf against some different opposition. The team has players ranging from Year 2 to Year 5, and yet they are combining really well and displaying great teamwork and support for each other.
It’s a new look Mount Carmel in the Division 3 secondary hockey roster this season. New students Jasmine McCormick (Year 8) and Sadie Rogers (Year 7) are showing great skills on the field. Sophie Sommerville (Year 6) has also been a welcome addition, stepping up to fill the goalie void, and bringing her sister from Eva (Year 8) along to give hockey a go for the first time. The more experienced players have been patient and encouraging to the new players and we are already seeing great improvement as a team. So far, the team has had a forfeit win from Taroona, a 4-2 win against Mackillop and a 2-1 loss to Hobart City.
Good luck to both hockey teams in their remaining matches.
