We were very fortunate that Sally Odgers, an accomplished Tasmanian author and book editor, visited our Primary students during Book Week.

She read her picture books to our young students giving extra insights into her stories. 

Our Years 3 and 4 students part in a hands-on poetry writing session, each student writing a beautiful poem. Our Year 5 students learned how to invent fictional characters, which are now ready to be included in their next story, while out Year 6 students were shown by Sally how to revise their writing pieces from rough drafts to the finishing text. 

An author visit is a complementary addition to promote the love of reading and provide insight into the writing process.
