PIRATES OF THE CURRY BEAN

The Senior Production this year is an action-packed comedy spectacular titled “Pirates of the Curry Bean.” Due to restrictions we haven’t been able to stage a production for a few years so this is quite exciting. The format of this year’s productions will be slightly different to previous years. This year, the senior production includes grades four, five and six. The production will run over two nights instead of one to ensure that no one misses out on a ticket. There will be a matinee and an evening performance on October 19th and a second evening performance on October 20th. It is an expectation that all students in grades four, five and six take part in the Production. Any child who feels like they should not take part will need a valid excuse.

This production was originally supposed to be staged last year so it has been a long time in the making. Many students put their time and effort into auditioning for roles both this year and last year. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate each student who had the courage to get up on stage and audition for speaking parts. I understand your disappointment If you missed out on a speaking part. However, please be aware that you will still be playing an important role in the chorus as pirates, sailors and natives, which will be the backbone of the production. Students who were successful in their audition last year still have the same roles. The roles that were available to audition for this year are the parts that were previously occupied by former students.

Students who have speaking roles are expected to spend some time at home learning their lines by rote and any songs they may need to sing.

We will endeavour to supply as many costumes and props as possible, however some items may need to be supplied from home. I will send more information out on costumes over the next few days. There won’t be a need to spend a lot of money on costumes. Most (if not all) requested items could be assembled from clothes you already own. If not, try op shops or come and see Mr Block or your classroom teacher for assistance.

If you have any questions regarding costumes, props or any other part of the production, please don’t hesitate to contact me in person, by phone, by email at cblock@stacbourne.catholic.edu.au or leave a message for me at the office.
