Year 8

Snow Camp

Well, we finally made it! This camp has been three years in the making. The students made their way up to Mt Buller and the level of excitement rose when they saw the huge snow-capped mountain in front of them. Squeals and calls of delight and awe erupted on the bus – ‘I see the white mountain’, ‘I see it too’, ‘It’s there.’ and ‘Wow!’.

The students settled into their lodges and geared up ready for what was a first-time experience for many of them. The weather was kind despite the forecast and the students made the most of what was an awesome day.

The next day was the most gnarliest day weather wise. Strong winds prevented the lifts from running but the students kept a positive attitude and shuffled around the village determined to make the most of the opportunity they had.

The final day was kinder and again the students tackled the mountain with determination and made the most of the better weather.

I was very proud of the students who kept a positive attitude throughout. Much appreciation to Oxley staff who kept the students safe and sound and joined in with them. It was a great camp!
