Kicking and Shooting Her Way to the Top

Over the past two weeks, Jasmine Jones (6H) has participated in two different national competitions including the School Sport Australia Football Championships and the School Sport Australia Basketball Championships.

The Football Championships were held in South Australia. Jasmine played mostly at centre half-forward and had a breakout game against ACT booting five goals and earning the Best on Ground for the match. In their final game against South Australia, Jasmine again earned Best on Ground to lead her team to a tight 11-8 victory. This was the first girls’ Under 12 football competition run by SSA, and to be a member of a gold medal team in their inaugural year is quite special!

Jasmine then flew back to Victoria for the Basketball Championship in Bendigo. The day prior to the competition it was announced that Jasmine was named the Captain of the Under 12 Girls Victorian team, a high honour showing her capabilities as a leader and motivator. Demonstrating incredible poise, Jasmine led her team to a record of 7 wins and 0 losses. In the deciding game Victoria flexed their muscles to win 77-35.

At the completion of the tournament, Jasmine received a sportsmanship award, being quoted as an amazing leader who is humble, kind, thoughtful, caring, considerate and a wonderful role model.
