Kingfisher Concert

This week we celebrated the achievements of our musical ensembles as they presented the annual Kingfisher Concert in the Albany Entertainment Centre. I was so proud of every student who performed in the concert. This is a very long day with rehearsals at the AEC in the morning followed by the concert in the evening. Each student was beautifully presented, well organised, and performed brilliantly with a big smile on their face. It was wonderful to perform to a virtually sold-out AEC after the smaller COVID audiences from the past two years.

This year’s concert included some scary skeleton faces for Danse MacCabre, rock tunes by the Junior School Rock Band, our massive Grand Finale and the Pipe Band performing Spanish tunes complete with sombreros.

We also enjoyed some wonderful classical music including Faure’s Pavane, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the beautiful Scarborough Fair alongside some awesome Jazz, Applesauce by the Year Eleven VET students and the original composition by the Year Twelve VET students Biscuits and Marmalade.

Thank you to all our wonderful music students and their supportive families.

Red Moort Whole School Arts Exhibition

We were delighted to welcome so many people to the Red Moort Whole School Arts exhibition opening on Sunday afternoon. It was an immersive display of a very wide range of student artwork celebrating the flora, fauna and stories of our area, opened with a significant story told by Aunty Carol Pettersen.

The artwork made by students was inspired particularly by the Red Moort Reserve.

I wish the Year Twelve ATAR Visual Arts and Media Analysis & Production students well, as their artworks now travel to Perth for marking.
