Whole School Arts Exhibition

On Sunday, the GSG Arts Exhibition was officially opened and students were able to view the exhibition from Monday to Wednesday.

The inspiration for the exhibition was Red Moort. Red Moort is a small woodland of 80 year old Red Moort trees that exist on the Red Moort reserve near Bremer Bay and the Stirlings. This reserve is a Bush Heritage site and houses the Michael Tichbon Centre. This research centre was also where we held our inaugural Arts Camp. The exhibition celebrates Red Moort and its uniqueness, which was evident by the many different interpretations and mediums of artworks inspired by this place.

Congratulations to Ms Rachel Mordy, Mrs Phoebe Duff, Miss Katie Gunning, Ms Angela Diletti and Mrs Mel Michael for their wonderful contribution to such an enriching event.

Wine Launch

The 2022 GRAMMAR grown vintage, Kanyinak, was launched at the Technologies Showcase held last Wednesday 7 September. Kanyinak is the traditional Noongar name for the Kingfisher bird that commonly appears around the GSG campus. Kanyinak is a sauvignon blanc that provides aromas of abundant tropical passionfruit with a subtleness of snow pea, along with flavours of banana passionfruit, white pear and a clean citrus finish of lemonade fruit. The label artwork, created by Year Ten student Xanthe O’Neill, depicts a scene from the shores of Oyster Harbour including the local native flora and fauna.

Congratulations to Mr Julian Gugenheim and the students who nurtured the grapes and to the community who assisted in picking the grapes for this pleasant wine.

Kingfisher Concert

Last night, I enjoyed a wonderful evening of music at the Kingfisher Concert. The professionalism and talent of all the performers was evident.

Congratulations to Director of Music, Ms Emma Luxton, and the music team for their encouragement and commitment to developing our music students into accomplished performers.

Organisational Change

The School is preparing for 2023, and with the current climate, the School is making significant changes to its organisational structure. We are seeking to improve the unity of the School and the sense of belonging, along with operational efficiencies. Next week, I will be able to share with you some of these exciting initiatives that will have a positive impact for all students for 2023 and beyond.
