Principals Report

Term 2 Up and Running

Our school continues to grow with 11 new enrolments since the commencement of Term 2 2019. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new families to our school and to the Guyra community.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you and to congratulate our students who took time during the school holidays to attend the ANZAC Day March and Service. We had a large contingent represent our school and each of our students and their families should be  very proud of the way that our students  conducted themselves  displaying  pride, respect and responsibility.

Our newly formed Parents and Citizens group are meeting at the Coffee Break Cafe at 6.00 p.m. on Tuesday 14th May 2019. Please take the time to come along and support this important team, P & C's play and active role in all NSW schools. They are included into decision-making at Guyra Central School, including creation of the School Plan, Annual allocation of school funds, uniform, curriculum and a range of other important decisions.

During Week 3 this term our Year 3, Year 5, Year 7 and Year 9 students will be participating in the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) Online testing. This year is the first year that our students will sit the test online, testing will commence Tuesday 14th May  and conclude on Thursday 16th May 2019 with catch-up days happening during Week 4. Please call me at the school if you have any questions around NAPLAN.

We have had many students representing Guyra Central School, in a range of activities, during the beginning of Term 2. All students have represented with great citizenship and have been rewarded and recognised for their efforts. Please take the time to review reports for some of these activities in this edition. Further recognition will be available in future editions of this newsletter.

Ms Michaillee Nield, Guyra Central School Careers Advisor and I will be inviting Year 12 students and their parents to meet with us during Week 3 and Week 4. The purpose of these meetings is to check in with the students and their families to ensure that we are giving appropriate and timely support as they progress through this important passage of time. I look forward to this opportunity.

Thanks to our community for their continuing support.
