Athletics Carnival
Our SMDP Athletics Carnival was held on Friday the 29th of November and was a day to remember for our school community.
Junior students experienced a day full of fun activities such as the tricky sack race, the always challenging egg and spoon race, the 100 metre dash and lots more. Whilst our senior students participated in more formal athletic events such as hurdles, shot put, discuss and the high jump.
As students participated in each event they earned points for their house colour. Each house colour was well represented and well done to Green who won the day with the most points closely followed by Red.
All of our students participated with great enthusiasm and an outstanding attitude towards the day, which our teachers and leadership team are very proud of. We thank all of those who contributed in planning and running the day as it could not have gone any better.
A big thank you to our parent and grandparent volunteers, your assistance was greatly appreciated. Both Lynette and I are looking forward to an even better Athletics Carnival in 2020.
Swimming @ Paul Sadler, Laverton
The Year 5/ 6 and Prep students will conclude their 10 days of swimming lessons tomorrow.
They have had the benefit of building on skills in a short time frame so that each 45 minute session involved focussed instruction and practice.
The development of each student’s ability and confidence in and around water has been wonderful to see.
The growth in independence of our Preps who got themselves organised, undressed, dried, dressed and returned to learning was record breaking!
Next week, families whose child participated in the program will be asked for feedback through a short survey. This will assist us in our planning for swimming lessons in 2020.
