Junior School

Reflection on 2017
As we near the end of the school year in 2017 it is only appropriate that we reflect on what has been a prosperous and successful year.
Congratulations to all of our Junior School students on working their way through the school year with some amazing results and great achievements.
It has been with great pleasure that we as a team have watched the students grow both academically and personally. There have been many activities in which our students have had the opportunity to participate in throughout the year. Some of them include; Year 7 Camp, The Respectful Relationships Program, Challenge Week, Year 9 City Experience, Night of the Notables, visits to KIOSC, lunchtime concerts, Multicultural Day, visits from Robert Newton, Peter Hitchener and Cosentino and the College Showcase “Darling James Goes back to School”. During their involvement in these programs and events our students have demonstrated exemplary behaviour and upheld our College values with pride.
This Christmas break will provide students with the opportunity to unwind and have a much deserved break. It is important that students look out for one another during the break and continue to foster the relationships that have been built throughout the school year.
Whilst this Christmas break is important, in order for students to adequately prepare for their return to school in Term 1 they may have been given a few tasks to complete over the holiday break. For example, in English students are required to read the novel that they will be studying before returning to school in 2018.
The novels that will be studied in English include:
Year 7- ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar
Year 8 - ‘Runner’ by Robert Newton
Year 9 - ‘Tomorrow When the War Began’ by John Marsden
It is imperative that these tasks are completed so that students are ready to learn and be at their best upon their return in Term 1 2018.
The Junior School will also be expanding next year with the addition of Jake Barnett as Year 8 Coordinator. Therefore, in 2018 the Junior School will consist of:
Head of Junior School- Mrs. Emma Morris
Year 7 Coordinator- Miss Emily Phibbs
Year 8 Coordinator- Mr. Jake Barnett
Year 9 Coordinator- Miss Casey Lawson
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the parents/guardians of our students. Your continued support for the school is appreciated and we look forward to continuing to work closely with you to inspire brilliance and confidence in your child.
Have a safe break and happy holidays!
