Year 10 Alumni Workshop

On Friday 11th May, 2018 we welcomed seven Matthew Flinders Girls’ Secondary School Alumni back to their old school to chat with the Year 10 students about the paths they have followed since graduating.

There was a real ‘buzz’ and sense of excitement at the College, as the group of alumni were reunited with some of their past teachers. It was lovely hearing the chatter in the staffroom amongst staff and alumni about their positive experiences at MFG and what they have been up to since leaving.

The alumni, all of whom have taken diverse pathways, participated in a Q&A session with the Year 10 students. The session focused on subject selection, goal setting, transitioning from school to university/workforce, study, health and well-being, changing direction, industry insights and so much more.

During the session, the Year 10 students were introduced to some of the endless possibilities of life beyond secondary school. The engaging factor was hearing it, firsthand from those whom have walked the same corridors.

A sincere thank you to the following past students, who gave up their own time to share their experiences with current students: Vivian Wong ’97 (Program Delivery Manager at Insurance Australia Group), Charlotte Brough ’12 (Behavioural Therapist), Kate Seiz ’02 (Marketing Manager for some of Australia’s best loved brands), Susie Cammarere ’02 (Pediatric Nurse Unit Manager in the Children’s Ward at Barwon Health), Teyha Robertson ’13 (In her final year of Primary Teaching at Deakin University), Jacqueline Wright ’13 (Trainee Court Registrar at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court) and Fiona Lawrie (Managing Director for the company she founded, ‘Tradeswomen Australia.’)

We love to hear from former students. Please send us an email: alumni@mfgsc.vic.edu.au
