Students and staff were very busy on Tuesday 18th June! A number of fundraisers were organised to support SIDS and Kids, Cancer Council and our Art Department.
Red Nose Day is SIDS and Kids major annual fundraiser, with all funds raised going towards providing vital services and programs to the Australian community. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden, unexplained death of a newborn child during sleep. Death usually occurs in the early hours of the morning, and there is no noise or evidence of a struggle. SIDS and Kids is also dedicated to saving the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood, and their areas of focus include education, research, national awareness campaigning, advocacy and fundraising.
On that day, students came to School in comfortable casual clothes wearing an element of red to highlight the importance of this worthwhile charity. Each student donated $2.00 for the casual day. Alternatively, ELC and Junior School students were able to pay $3.00 to receive a red nose.
On the same day, students raised some funds for the Art Department, with the goal to help it to reach new heights. Students across the three Schools had the opportunity to buy some delicious food, including gyros and desserts, and to listen to some live music performed by our talented Oakleigh Grammar students. One of the highlights of day was the initiative of Jordi Thompson from Year 9, who shaved his hair and raised money to support the Cancel Council!
A huge thank you to all who helped on the day! Also, thanks to students, staff and parents who supported our fundraisers!
After our annual “Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea” fundraiser on Thursday 23rd May, we would like to announce that we raised $1,300 for the Cancer Foundation! Thanks to all students and staff who participated.

A group of 25 Oakleigh Grammar students are taking part in the Greece Cultural Tour 2019. Students together with Mrs Tsagalos, Mr Patel, Mr Karakotas, Mrs Spanos and Father George Adamakis, are heading off to Greece from the 21st of June until the 12th of July.
Greece is a famous country, popular for its clean beaches and its long history. Our students will have the opportunity to experience Greek hospitality and summer in Greece! They will visit some of the most significant archaeological and historical sites, such as the Acropolis in Athens, the Lykavittos Hill, the Ancient Epidaurus, the Meteora Monasteries, the Royal Tombs of Virgina, and the Palace of Knossos. Students will stay in Athens for a week and then they will depart for Northern Greece (Thessaloniki), where they have the honour of meeting with staff and students from our sister school. They will also visit some of the most popular Greek islands including Crete and Santorini.
We wish all students and staff a safe trip! We look forward to hearing about their experiences in Greece when they return back to Australia!
