Principal's News

MARK ROBERTSON

Principal

Our strategic plan is continually referenced and reviewed at all levels within our School. Fundamentally the core business of a school is to improve student learning outcomes. Our Leadership Team and all staff work within our School to ensure that opportunities for effective learning occurs on a daily basis. We strive to build a highly professional reputation for teaching and learning.

Nurture and compassion are key words that come to mind when I reflect on the Community of Oakleigh Grammar. It is important that our staff and students demonstrate compassion in everyday practices. Nurture and compassion will lead to strengthening relationships and cultivate a culture that enables all people to respect and respond to others. At Oakleigh Grammar our commitment is that all students and staff feel that they really matter.

Clapham Road Parking Project

Since the last edition of the Grammar News, our Business Manager and myself have been liaising with the relevant project officers at Monash City Council. Whilst we were hoping and advised that the project would be completed at the forth coming school break, it now appears that the project will be deferred to the September school holiday period. We are fully aware of our Community’s frustration with this delay, and we have made representation to the Council to prioritise parking, traffic flow, and importantly safety to our students. I do request that parents respect the residents surrounding our School by not parking in their driveways or on their nature strips. I also request that all parents exercise caution and patience at pick up and drop off times.

I take this opportunity to wish our touring students happy and safe travels. Our annual Year 9 pilgrimage to Blackheath and Thornburgh College in Charters Towers, North Queensland and a three week cultural tour to Greece with over 25 students in attendance. Father George will be joining our Greek tour which will cover the country from North to South. I am looking forward to joining our tour party during the school holiday period in Crete.
