Principal - Br Garry Coyte

This coming week there are two events which are about building expectations.

The first event is the:

commencement of the Advent Season in the life of the Church.  Advent is about waiting in expectation for the Christmas Story to come to fruition. Over these four weeks, which lead to the Christmas Day event, we are asked to wait in expectation for the birth of the Christ figure. This is a significant moment in the Christian story because we believe that this birth gives life and hope to people who believe. Placed before us, in this birth, is someone who we can believe in and follow. Jesus comes into an unbelieving world, challenges it and calls others to follow in his steps.  He challenges us to lead lives which are about, ‘Right Paths.’  Over these 4 weeks we need to focus on the Christ figure and examine our lives in terms of being Christ figures to others.

The second event in this time of expectation is that the Flying Start Programme will commence. All students will move to a new year level for 2018 and start their 2018 classwork. Yes, there will be new subjects, new teachers and new classes. It is an exciting time because you will be looking at something new and different.  Regarding your classwork, it is also the time for new beginnings, new commitments and new involvement in College time. Yes, it is the time to begin anew with a fresh commitment to all that lies ahead. There will be new students in each of the year levels and we need to make them feel welcome in the College Community.  Commencing a new year level and different studies needs preparation which is about being organised and setting new goals for the year ahead . We can look to tomorrow with hope, but it is this day that we have to live with a full heart.  Yes, use these weeks of the Flying Start Programme  well with a heart full of commitment and hope.
