Loving the Library at MSC

Our Library has been progressively transforming into a space that is a text rich, engaging and supportive environment to help provide positive literacy outcomes for all students at Melton Secondary College.

One of the most significant changes to the books in the library is the introduction of Genres and reading levels. By grouping books into Genre/Themes, students are more able to find what suits their individual interests. The introduction of reading levels has helped students select the ‘just right book’ for themselves.

Last week our Library hosted the School Library Association of Victoria  (SLAV) regional meeting and were proud to share our achievements, including the new Library set up to focus on our books being grouped together in Genres.

MSC students participating in the Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge are reminded to go into their profile and update any books they have been reading so they can count towards meeting the challenge. If you need any support with this, please see your English teacher or a member of library staff.

The library is open from 8.30am – 4.30pm. Recess and lunchtime are for schoolwork, study or independent reading.  We are now offering a DVD loan service.  Students may borrow 4 items on a fortnightly basis and are able to re-borrow if required.
