School Captain and SRC Representatives

School Captain Report

School Captains have had a busy year so far! We ran the first term assembly, our ANZAC Day Ceremony and we have been working on the Term 2 assembly that will be on the last day of Term 2. We have also participated in the School Council for our second time this year which has been a great experience and helped the SRC students collect the money for our successful pyjama/winter woollies day earlier this month. School Captains have also been having meetings with our SRC representatives to discuss potential events in the future.

Production rehearsals are underway and all students and staff have been working really hard in rehearsing and making props for it!

As a Year 9 cohort, we have had a very busy Term 2 as we completed our last NAPLAN and first exams for the year. Early in the term, we had a transition day over to Mill Park Secondary College, where we had the opportunity to participate in elective choices the school offer and received a tour around the campus from past Lakes students. We also had a very successful Athletics Carnival although it was a sad day for us Year 9 as it was our final one here at The Lakes.

We are really looking to Term 3 as we have heaps planned. We will be heading out all around Melbourne for our Melbourne Experience. Some of the things we could be doing are bowling, laser tag, Melbourne Star, Amazing Race around Melbourne and many more exciting activities.

The Early Years SRC representatives.

The Early Years SRC representatives have had a busy term. We have enjoyed attending weekly meetings with Claire and the School Captains every Thursday lunchtime. In meetings, we make posters for events, discuss how we can spend our fundraising money and organise who will speak at assemblies. This term we organised ‘crazy hair day’, ‘The Biggest Morning Tea’ and ‘Winter Woollies Day’. We have also collected feedback from our peers about what we want to improve in the school and what we think is working well. We look forward to contributing more ideas next term and representing our fellow students.

The Middle Years SRC representatives:

The SRC's have been working hard on a various number of projects this term. We have made some big decisions and raised awesome funds. Our most exiting project this term has been how we use the $1000 that we were given. After surveying the middle years campus, it was found that the students wanted an outdoor classroom. With thorough research, we realised this project would cost more than the money given, so we came up with the idea of performing a fundraiser to raise the needed funds. Our idea is now in the process of approval. This term we also ran a few fundraisers including Crazy Hair Day and Winter Woolies. Both were a success with a high  student participation and a large number of donations.

Term three is also an exiting term with the upcoming Jeans for Genes Day and Footy Day.

We look forward to the future and all the fun things ahead.
