Secondary Sports Report

Secondary Sport Semester 1

It has been an exciting semester in Secondary Sport with fantastic opportunities for our students to represent The Lakes at various competitions.

Term One

In Term 1, we sent both Year 7 and Year 8 teams to the Whittlesea Division Volleyball Tournament at Whittlesea Secondary College. All teams were extremely competitive and we’re extremely excited to have our Year 7 Girls Volleyball team progressing through to the Northern Metro Region Competition in

Term Two

In Term 2, we sent an extremely strong team of students to the Whittlesea Division Cross Country Competition.  The Lakes had an extremely successful day with 17 students qualifying to the NMR region. Congratulations to Lachlan P who finished 3rd overall. Term 2 also saw the exciting reveal of our new interschool sport tops. A big thank-you to students for their involvement in the design of these tops. We look forward to seeing many teams compete in these uniforms in the years to come.

Also in Term 2 a number of Year 7 and Year 8 students participated in winter team sports. The Year 7 Boys Soccer team were competitive all day and improved as the competition went on. The Year 7 Girls Soccer team displayed a dominant performance, going through the day undefeated and will progress through to the Northern Metro Region in Term 3. While finally the Year 7 Girls Netball team were extremely competitive and finished the day 2nd overall.

Year 7/8 Boys Football team

The Year 7/8 Boys Football team ventured out to Mernda Football Ground to represent our school with pride. All competitors were great role models for other schools with all students showing their personal best. On the same day we had a Year 8 Girls Soccer and Year 8 Girls Netball team compete. The Netball team were commended on their progress and improvement as the day went on and our girls Soccer team were extremely competitive finishing the day in 2nd place after losing a close Grand Final.

Congratulations to all the students who have participated in Secondary Sport in Semester One. All students have shown great dedication participating in weekly training sessions to prepare for the competitions. Also a big thank-you to the staff and student helpers who have assisted in coaching teams! Go Lakes Legends!
