REMEMBRANCE DAY

Thank you to the College Orchestra for their sensitive contribution to this important ceremony on Friday. Well done to Lachlan Chue and Harrison Pfeiffer (Year 10) who had the task of playing the “Last Post” and “Reveille”, two of the most difficult trumpet works in the repertoire.

 

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Congratulations to Hunter Clarke, Jack Moran, Harry Pfeiffer (Year 10) and Carmel Rodrigues (Mercy College) on taking out third place in the “covers section” at St Joseph’s College Battle of the Bands at the weekend. Their energetic performance of “Seven Nation Army” (White Stripes) and “Joker and the Thief” (Wolfmother), was well received by the audience and saw them walk away with $100.00 in prize money and $50.00 in vouchers.

 

MEET THE MUSIC CONCERT

Years 9, 10 and 11 Elective Music students will attend the final concert in this series on Wednesday 16th November (Week 6), 6.30pm at the Opera House. The concert concludes at approximately 8.30pm. Students must be neatly attired and be in their seats no later than 6.20pm. Tickets have been given to the students.

 

TWILIGHT CONCERT

The final concert for the year is on Friday 2nd December, commencing at 5.00pm in the Junior School playground. All Music ensembles will be performing. The Performing Arts Parents Association will be manning the barbeques and there will be a Christmas raffle. Please join us to celebrate the end of another satisfying and busy year for Performing Arts at St Pius X College.

 

2017 INSTRUMENTAL TUITION

Applications are still being taken for tuition in 2017. A form is available on the College website and should be emailed to Ms Bates TBates@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au BEFORE Monday 5th December. The cost of tuition in 2017 is $45.00 per half hour individual lesson.

The ConocoPhillips Science Experience

A Nationwide STEM Outreach Program for Years 9 & 10 Students

The ConocoPhillips Science Experience is a three-day hands–on science activities program. The aim is to inform students of the importance of science and technology while stimulating and heightening their interests in a wide range of science disciplines and career opportunities. It encourages further studies in the sciences, while at the same time giving them a 'taste' of university/tertiary life.

 

There are still places available in the following programs:

Macquarie University, Sydney:  11th - 13th January 2017 Cost $120

University of Sydney:  11th - 13th January 2017 Cost $120

University of New England:  17th - 19th January 2017 Cost $120 (Accommodation is available at an extra cost at UNE.)
