Captains 2019/20

As we say thank you and  goodbye to our captains for 2019,  we celebrate and announce the new ASC Student Leaders.

We had an assembly to recognise the 26 year 11 students who put themselves forward as candidates for leadership roles. 

Our current Captains offered some salient advice in the shape of ‘recipes for success’ and we were joined by Professor Todd Walker who gave a fantastic speech in relation to leadership.

Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

Our Parent/Student/Teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday, 21st October starting at 3pm through to 6.30pm.

This is a great opportunity for discussions to occur regarding your child's progress at school and we look forward to meeting with you. Students are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussions too.

Selective High School Placement 2021

For attention of parents & carers of students currently in Year 5.

Selective high schools cater for academically high potential and gifted students who may otherwise be without sufficient classmates of their own academic standard.

The date of the Selective High School Placement Test for the 2021 Year 7 intake is Thursday, 12 March 2020. More information regarding the application process in link.

Teen Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health well-being is important to us all. Our school counselling team will be presenting and facilitating a Teen Mental Health First Aid course this term for Year 8 students to learn how to provide mental health first aid to their friends. 

The course is taught over 3 sessions on non-consecutive days. More info on flyers below. 

Uniform

The school is committed to working with students and families to ensure compliance with the school uniform.  We would ask for your help and support in ensuring that your son/daughter has the correct uniform items.

The new school uniform has many options and has been designed to comfortable and appropriate for all school activities. We are continuing to see black tights/active wear being worn to school, in addition to jeans and t-shirts. These items are NOT part of the endorsed uniform and we will be seeking your assistance to ensure that these items are not being worn to school. 

If you are experiencing difficulty acquiring the necessary pieces of clothing, I would encourage you to make contact with the school as soon as possible so that we can assist where necessary. ASC has had generous support from the P&C to purchase uniform items for families who are unable to meet the costs of the uniform. 

New Build Progress Summary

• In-ground services works are ongoing.
• All slab on ground works are now complete with the first floor slabs 75% complete.
• Slabs for the outside basketball courts have been poured.
• Roof replacement works for the heritage building are nearing completion.
• Electrical and mechanical rough-in, mechanical duct installation, along with gyprock wall and ceiling lining has commenced internally to the heritage building.

Next steps

• Structural steel erection.
• Facade and roofing works.
• Structural topping out is expected mid October 2019.
