Assistant Principal REPORT

Home school partnerships are very important to us at AHPS and communication between school and home is key.

Our aim is to have Sentral as our main form of communication for events, notices and important information.

As we are still navigating through the Sentral System we are also communicating certain information through: Facebook, paper notices and community notice boards.

The priority of our teachers is for learning to start at 8.50 SHARP. It is important for students to be seated and ready for learning and for teachers to begin instruction at this time. Community teachers meet regularly to analyse student data and priorities and set learning goals for each student and it is important that we get on with teaching and learning to ensure every child is successful.

There are times during the term that you may want to talk with your child/s teachers, if this requires more than a quick 1 minute exchange of information we ask that you set up a time to meet with them. Unfortunately, mornings are not a suitable to have parent meetings but we do value strong home school partnerships and we ask that you set up a time to meet with a community teacher before or after school when teachers are available.

Thank you for your support.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN results have be distributed to all Year 3 and 5 students who completed the tests. Below is some information about how performance is measured and what we may do as a school to unpack this data.

How is my child’s performance measured?

Individual student performance is shown on a national achievement scale for each test. A result at the national minimum standard indicates that the student has demonstrated the basic literacy and numeracy skills needed to participate fully in that year level. A NAPLAN individual student report will be issued by your child’s school later in the year. If you do not receive a report, you should contact your child’s school.

How NAPLAN results may be used at AHPS?

• Students and parents may use individual results to discuss progress with teachers.

• Teachers use results to better identify students who would benefit from greater challenges or extra support.

• To identify strengths and areas to improve in teaching programs, and to set goals in literacy and numeracy.

• School systems use results to review programs and support offered to schools.

• The community can see average school NAPLAN results at myschool.edu.au

Where can I get more information?

For more information about NAPLAN:

• contact your child’s school

• contact your local test administration authority at nap.edu.au/TAA

• visit nap.edu.au For information about how personal information for NAPLAN is handled by ACARA, please visit nap.edu.au/naplanprivacy

Sentral Parent Portal

The Parent Portal has been set up to provide you with information about our school and learning community events. Sentral is our main form of communication. Notices, reminders, Reports and interview bookings will be through Sentral.

Letters were sent home with the required information to register for this communication service.

Many families have successfully registered using an email address and created a password for access. If you have yet to register we highly recommend you take the steps as outlined in the original letter as

Many families have come to see us not being able to see any information on the Portal. To see any information from the school and to link to your enrolled children, you must enter the access key provided in the original letter. This is best completed on a Desktop computer NOT via the app on your phone.

If you have any questions/concerns, require a new letter or access to a desktop please come to reception either before or after school where we will be able to assist you with creating an account or/and linking your children.
