Principal's Report

Dear Families and Friends

Since the last edition of the Lantern we have had the Head Start program, our final whole school liturgy and assembly, Year 9 Community Service, Our Year 12 Leadership training days, Three Schools, One Community Christmas Carols, and our staff and students return safely from Italy.

We are very proud of our VCE 2019 results; our goal to raise the academic bar has certainly been achieved this year.  12.3% of our girls received an ATAR of 90 and above and 35% received an ATAR of 80 and above, putting them in the top 20% of the state.  The average ATAR for the top 20% of our students was 92.35, an achievement to indeed be proud of.  We are very proud of our College Dux, Charlotte Carnes, with an ATAR of 99.00, including a perfect score of 50 in History: Revolutions, putting her in the top 1% of the state.

We should also be proud that we are an inclusive school that gives every student who wishes to undertake VCE that opportunity.  We also congratulate our girls who also successfully attained their VCAL certificate.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank not only their VCE teachers, who supported them throughout the year, but all the teachers at the College who were a significant part of their Presentation journey.

After what has been the most difficult, challenging and emotional year, we farewelled a significant number of our students and staff who are moving on to other schools.  We are indeed blessed at Presentation College to have had them as part of our lives and we have been privileged to call them one of our own.  They will always stand alongside the thousands of Presentation people who have made up the story of our school for the last 146 years.  As they move to the next stage of their lives, we pray that they remember to always be like Nano: caring, compassionate and strong people of Welcoming Hearts, because we will hold them in our hearts and wish them every success in the years to come.

For all of us staying at the College in 2020, rest assured that you will be loved, nurtured and cared for. We, as a staff, are committed to continue giving our students the very best of ourselves and giving them the best educational experience.  We are proud Presentation people who show who we are through “deeds not words”.

For those students and staff who are leaving us, we pray the Windsor Blessing:

“May the Light of Nano bless you

May the Light of your soul guide you

May the angel of Awakening stir your Heart for what is right and just.

May you see in what you do the beauty of your soul

May you feel that love, we call God, within you”

Nano Nagle, Pray for Us

I wish you all a joyous Christmas and the very best that 2020 can bring you and your families.

Best wishes to you all.
