CHPS FAIR2018

FAIR REFLECTIONS 2018

It has almost been two weeks since our Fair, so I hope that everyone has had a chance to recover and reflect on the day!

After many years of sunny Fair days, unfortunately it was our turn for a bit of rainy weather. Set up on the Friday was wet and miserable, but thanks to our wonderful team of parent volunteers we were in a great place as we left on Friday night. There were car loads of trips from the sheds to the main campus, unloading the shipping container, setting up the second-hand stalls in the Multipurpose Room, setting up tables and marquees, the Silent Auction in the Art Room, the deliveries of cool rooms and food and produce and not to mention the late stage set-up due to the wet weather all done in the rain.

Saturday morning saw the final push – the setting up of stalls, delivery of rides, hire equipment, farm animals, Gym Bus, ATM, photo booth, St Johns Ambulance and all of the other things that often happen in a blur of activity. That final hour before the Fair is officially open is such a busy time and I always marvel at what we can all accomplish when we work together.

Our 2018 Fair has been a wonderful success, not just measured in the money that it raised, but more importantly for the sense of community and connection that it highlights. Children were busy and engaged and parents and guardians worked on stalls, caught up with friends and other families and participated in all that the day had to offer.

There are so many children, families, teachers, sponsors and community members involved in our Fair. On behalf of the Fair Committee, I thank you all.

I would especially like to thank CHPS students Sophia A,  Daisy and Felix O for coming on Sunday morning with their parents to help pick up rubbish and clean the yard. (I am sure they would like some other children helping them next year!)

Thank you to our outgoing Committee members Ross Opie, Nicholas Dal Sasso and Peta Cleary for your years of service to our Fair.

I look forward to working with our Fair Committee, the School Council and the teachers, families and students at CHPS to plan another wonderful Fair in 2019.

Have a restful and happy time over the summer holidays.

With warm regards,

Kate Lovett
